Data for this policy area was not collected for the selected year.

The information provided in this map is based on data collected and coded by the University of Illinois Chicago through a contract from the National Cancer Institute to Westat (HHSN261201800002B) and reflects the codified law of each state as of December 31 of the specified year. CLASS scores reflect the effective date of the law, not the law creation date.

2018 / Physical Education / All School Levels / PE Time Requirements

The Physical Education (PE) Time Requirements score reflects the degree to which state law addresses the amount of PE instruction with respect to the National Association for Sport and Physical Education (NASPE) recommended standard.

For the All School Levels Score (Aggregate Score), data were aggregated across the school levels to reflect the lowest score for the policy area that would be in effect for ALL grades in a given state. (i.e., a state that had PE Time Requirements scores of 3, 2 and 4 for ES, MS and HS, respectively, would get an All School levels Score of 2).
